Crypto - Page 2

Crypto, short for cryptocurrency, refers to a digital or virtual form of currency that uses cryptography for security. This makes it difficult to counterfeit or double-spend. Many cryptocurrencies operate on decentralized networks based on blockchain technology, which is a distributed ledger enforced by a network of computers (or nodes). Cryptocurrencies are typically not issued or regulated by any central authority, making them immune to government interference or manipulation. Bitcoin, created in 2009, is the first and most well-known cryptocurrency, but thousands of alternatives, known as altcoins, exist, including Ethereum, Ripple, and Litecoin. Crypto can be used for various purposes, including online purchases, investments, and remittances. The underlying technology and the decentralized nature of cryptos have also fostered innovations in finance, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
